Alive in the Fog I
We almost missed Second Beach after turning right at the river mouth. I had expected the Pacific Northwest coast to feel as somber as it looked. Up close, every pool and rock seemed busy with life. Out in the fog, jagged sea stacks wore unruly heads of trees.
Between these two photographs, an eagle seized a weary seabird from the sand and carried it away. I doubted it would survive.
